Chris is the Managing Director of Cardinal Wealth Management. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and has 11 years industry experience working as an advisor at an RIA and an additional 6 years as a successful entrepreneur both in the US and Latin America. Cardinal Wealth is affiliated with Spire Investment Partners, a cutting edge, independent registered investment advisory firm and broker dealer with open access to custodians such as Fidelity, TD Ameritrade, Pershing, and Charles Schwab.
Chris specializes in the creation of personalized comprehensive financial planning for business owners and entrepreneurs. The financial planning service is met by developing and executing a customized set of goals for each client through risk management, employee benefits planning, investment management, income tax planning, and estate planning.
Chris began his career as a financial planner for the Financial Consulate in Baltimore County, where he worked with business owners and high net worth clients. He has extensive business development and managerial experience both in the U.S. and across Latin America. Previous projects range from directing two major public programs in Colombia (+450 employees) and raising capital for ventures in the Baltimore area.
Chris adds depth to the investment research function, bringing expertise in portfolio construction, asset allocation, and manager research. He has over fifteen years of investment experience. Through Cardinal’s partnership with Wealthspire Advisors and in his capacity as the Chief Market Strategist, he provides market intelligence, insights, and strategic guidance for Cardinal’s portfolios.
He previously worked as a portfolio manager with Steben & Company and Fortigent. He has extensive experience with portfolio construction and risk management to provide tailored investment strategies to meet a broad range of client needs.
Chris earned his BS in finance at American University. Chris has the CAIA Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and his series 65 license. Chris is a Northern Virginia native and currently resides in Vienna, VA, with his family and uses every spare moment to pursue his photography hobby.
Clyde has dedicated his career to influencing Foreign Affairs, economic competitiveness, and the effects of globalization. He served as counselor to the Secretary of Commerce in the Reagan Administration, acted as the Counsel Secretary commerce aid to Vice President George Bush Sr., served as the Vice-chairman to the Presidential Commission on trade and investment in the Asia Pacific under President Clinton, and frequently consulted for President Obama. Additionally, Clyde was the director of the Import/Export Bank, an advisor to Intel CEO Andy Grove and a member of Intel’s Advisory Board, and President of the Pacific Basin Economic Council. He is a regular speaker at Davos, a contributor to CNBC, and has authored eight books on Globalization. Clyde will be working with Cardinal’s investment team to bring insight into the global economic landscape and be authoring the new Cardinal Economic Outlook.
Paul is a dedicated partner in providing objective, insightful, and independent investment guidance to Cardinal Wealth Management around asset allocation, portfolio construction, and overall investment approach. Additionally, Paul helps drive Cardinal’s research and due diligence efforts in discovering new investment opportunities while monitoring our current investment lineup. He has over a decade of experience in the financial industry having worked in both private wealth management and institutional asset management. Paul provides consultative support to Cardinal helping our firm stay current with the latest relevant wealth planning strategies that arise given changing market conditions and evolving tax rules. Former roles have ranged from investment management, equity research, financial planning to management consulting. Paul has had the pleasure of growing his career in both the United States and northern Europe having worked for Ameriprise Financial in Chicago, Nordea Wealth & Asset Management in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Ernst & Young in Oslo, Norway.
Paul has earned a Graduate degree in Management from Copenhagen Business School and an Undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Additionally, Paul is both a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®).
Andrew Baron is the Manager of Supervision and Surveillance for Spire Investment Partners, LLC. He is responsible for overseeing Spire’s team of designated supervisors and monitoring Spire’s compliance program in areas such as new business, sales and trading activity, written communication, and product due diligence. He has been with Spire for over 6 years where he holds the Series 7, 24, 51, 52, 53, and 66 licenses. Andrew comes from a military family, but has most recently called Virginia home. He earned a bachelor’s of business administration in finance and business management from the University of Kentucky where he played hockey. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his Australian Shepherd or getting out on the golf course whenever he can.
Natalie has been in the financial services industry since 2006. She began her career with Morgan Stanley going on to work at XML Financial Group in 2009, supporting high net worth clients and Senior Financial Advisors. As an Operations Manager, Natalie strives to always provide clients with high quality, timely, professional, and personable service. She is a key component in addressing the needs of clients.
Natalie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in business and economics from McDaniel College (formally Western Maryland College). She is a sustainer of the Junior League of Washington, serving during her active years at a board member and committee chair of Bright Beginnings Inc. Bright Beginnings was started by Junior League in 1991 to address the critical need for child care for homeless families in DC. Since then, Bright Beginnings has met the needs of nearly 1,700 homeless children by providing families with developmental childcare and on-site therapeutic and family support services. Natalie worked to lead the committee for 4 years through their largest fundraiser and 5k event. She grew up in Baltimore and lives in Olney with her husband and two sons.
Christina began her career interning and working full time with First Financial Group as a Financial Representative. She received her license as a Life and Health Insurance Agent prior to joining our team at Cardinal Wealth Management. As an Operations Associate, she is responsible for accommodating to client needs, performing daily operations, and assisting in planning strategies.
Christina has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Dayton where she majored in Finance and minored in Marketing. Christina was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority at the University of Dayton. As a member of the sorority, she was able to work with the philanthropy, Read > Lead > Achieve. This organization allowed her to work directly with and tutor students from local elementary schools and assist in planning for multiple philanthropic events. After graduating in May of 2020, Christina moved back home and now resides locally in Silver Spring, MD.
Sal Malik is the Chief Compliance Officer for Spire Investment Partners, LLC where he is responsible for Spire’s firm-wide compliance including anti-money laundering, audit and review processes, continuing education, registration and licensing, compliance training, and establishment and review of the firm’s written supervisory processes and procedures. He is the point of contact for regulatory inquiries and examinations.
Sal has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. His experience spans both retail and institutional. He understands the client’s needs and supports Cardinal Wealth Management to deliver exceptional service.
He lives in Northern Virginia and earned a B.A. in Economics, Political Science, and International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. Sal enjoys his work, coffee, and football season.
Josh serves Spire’s advisors by overseeing the regulatory and internal financial reporting for Spire, as well as providing crucial business oversight for the company’s Finance department. Josh enjoys volunteering at church, spending time with his wife and three daughters, and playing tennis.
